The Issue of Heresy
Galatians 1:8-9: But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be accursed.
These are pretty serious words. Paul is speaking about the early oral tradition of the Church. Paul says that he offers what he himself has received. He speaks as an Apostle of the one true faith, of the one fold of Christ. Sometimes anti-Catholic critics try to use this verse, out of context, against Catholics; however, it will not wash. Like a boomerang it flies back into their faces. They are the ones who discount the role of this oral tradition and the Church that safeguards it. Separated from this living tradition and the true Church, Protestantism has fractured into thousands of sects, each claiming the bible for their own.
2 Timothy 4:3: For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths.
Titus 3:10: As for a man who is factious, after admonishing him once or twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is perverted and sinful; he is self-condemned.
Romans 16:17: I appeal to you, brethren, to take note of those who create dissensions and difficulties, in opposition to the doctrine which you have been taught; avoid them.
2 John 10:11: If any one comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into the house or give him any greeting; for he who greets him shares his wicked work.
This is precisely what happened. Heresies afflicted the Church, almost from the very beginning. Nevertheless, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Catholic Church has grown stronger in the face of opposition and has defined her beliefs with deeper insights into the Gospel. The breakaway churches have no safeguard to insure their fidelity in the truth. Indeed, people shop around for a church and minister that fits their tastes. Usually, this means a congregation that fails to challenge its people on basic elements of the Good News. Even fundamentalist Protestant churches, so quick to take stands against Catholicism or issues like homosexuality, can be quite liberal on matters like divorce and artificial contraception. As for the topic of abortion, that attacks at the very heart of the mystery we call the incarnation, there is, and more so than not, a deafening silence in most Protestant churches. Some of their teachers go to ridiculous extremes in order to attack the Catholic faith and our practices. One minister maligned priestly celibacy as unnatural and perverted something that would necessarily lead to all sorts of immorality and abuse of others. Only later did his words return to haunt him when his own child became pregnant and threw his words into his face; after all, she said, "I am just doing what comes natural." Lost in the debate was the possibility of self-control and the wonderful gift that is celibate love-- something praised by St. Paul. It should be said that this same MARRIED minister later got into his own mess of trouble with an adulterous affair. His glass house was shot full of holes! The so-called bible-alone method fails again and again. Without a history and a teaching Church, ministers quickly allow their own pet ideas and ambitions to cloud their proclamation. Some are afraid that the truth will forfeit their congregations, so they change the truth and convince themselves that they are right. Others are as befuddled as those who seek them out for guidance. Liberal Protestantism has taken such a path as far as it can go, straight into agnosticism and a loss of belief altogether. We need to pray for all such lost souls.

Galatians 1:8-9: "But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be acursed."
Good night!!! Nowhere did Paul even mention anything about the "early oral tradition of the Church." If folks can't see what you are doing, God help them!
And as far "pretty serious words" from Paul, the Roman Catholic Church could care less what Paul said. You just choose the verse to enforce unbiblical traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. If anything, the Book of Galatians alone reveals the wickedness of the Roman Catholic Church in its teachings of "faith plus works" system!
The Book of Galatians is the strongest declaration and defense of the doctrine of JUSTIFICATION through FAITH! It is vital truth for the Christian faith against any attack. Not only is a sinner saved by grace through faith, plus nothing, but the saved sinner lives by grace.
The Book of Galatians is a declaration of emancipation from legalism of any type! And it would do the reader well to notice that any system who attacks justification through faith, will not spend one minute of his life to learn this great truth. In the Book of Galatians, Paul makes it clear that he has no toleration for legalism.
Justification is a judicial act of God whereby He declares the sinner to be righteous (Rom. 3:26). Even in the Book of Galatians Paul says, "Even as Abraham believed God, and it was ACCOUNTED TO HIM FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS."
In this same Book it says, "And the scriptures, foreseeing that God would JUSTIFY the heathen THROUGH FAITH..." (Gal. 3:8)
In this same Book it says, "But that NO MAN is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH" (Gal. 3:11; cf. Rom. 4:2, Gal. 2:16).
Paul was not talking about "early oral tradition" when he said, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." (Gal. 1:8). He was talking about the gospel. That gospel is defined in 1 Cor. 15:1-4,
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"
The gospel shuts out all works. Roman 4:5 says, "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his FAITH IS COUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS.."
PAUL RECEIVED THE TRUE FAITH
Thank God I have my own Bible to keep in check the falsehood you speak. "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." (Acts 17:11)
2 Timothy 4:3: For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths.
Catholic Church all the way.
Titus 3:10: As for a man who is factious, after admonishing him once or twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is ed and sinful; he is self-condemned.
That's why I have nothing more to do with the Roman Catholic Church and its unbiblical practices.
DESPITE HERESIES, HOLY SPIRIT GUIDES THE CHURCH
Along with damning (Anathema) people to Hell who won't believe the way she does. (Council of Trent) As if she has the power of the eternal destiny of each human being on the face of this earth. How absurd!
PRIESTLY CELIBACY
The minister's daughter did not get pregnant because you believe he maligned priestly celibacy as unnatural. Give your reader a little more intelligence than to believe this silly nonsense.
The fact is, priestly celibacy is unnatural, and it has caused priests to take liberties with men, women, and beasts. This is a fact throughout the centuries which even you cannot deny or defend.
Where Scriptures are concerned, bishops and deacons are married folks. (1 Tim. 3:2, 1 Tim. 3:13).
You command that men shouldn't get married (priests), and you command Catholics to abstain from meats. The Roman Catholic Church preaches nothing but doctrines of devils.
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth." (1 Tim. 4:1-3)
And according to the Scriptures, the Roman Catholic church is cursed for preaching "faith plus works," for salvation, which is another gospel (Gal. 1:8,9), actually not another (Gal. 1:7), but a perversion of the pure gospel.
Please, the argument against the "bible-alone" does not depend on who can stay celibate or who commits adultery. Married ministers, singles, as well as single priests are capable of sinning with the flesh whether it has to do with sex or not. You yourself have committed adultery. One does not have to be married to do it (Matt. 5:28). You are not going to sit here and tell me you, as a man, never engaged in lustful thoughts.
How a Christian lives depends on his relationship with Jesus Christ, and thank God, through His word (Scriptures), we know forgiveness awaits when we confess to Him our sins, and our relationship restored (1 John 1:9). I don't need a human interpreter to let me know that!
